MIL STD-1553B Bus Controller. Support of Bus Controller, Monitor and Remote terminal modes

The single size IP module LAN-15 provides a dual MIL-STD-1553 interface. Bus Controller (BC), Monitor Terminal (MT) and Remote Terminal (RT) can be implemented. It provides up to 64-kword dual-ported buffered RAM. The ACE RT mode is multi-protocol, supporting MIL-STD-1553A, MIL-STD-1553B Notice 2, STANAG 3838 (including EFA bus), and the McAir A3818, A5232 and A5690 protocols.

The memory management scheme for RT mode provides an option for separation of broadcast data, in compliance with 1553B Notice 2. The transceivers of the ACE are fully monolithic (5 V only). This provides the advantage of a higher terminal impedance than is possible for a 12 V transmitter. As a result, there is greater margin for the input impedance test, mandated for 1553 validation testing. The IP module LAN-15 is available either in transparent mode processor interface with a 64-kword SRAM, or in buffered mode processor interface with 4-kword SRAM. The 4-kword SRAM buffer is usually sufficient for a simple RT application, but the 64-kword SRAM buffer is required for complex RT, MT or BC applications. The LAN-15 supports either short stub or long stub connections. The RT address can be set by on-board jumper. A LAN-15 option has programmable RT address. The RT address bits are also available on the I/O connector.
