The Linux support is based on an optimized version dedicated for the embedded PowerPC platforms and includes the latest features introduced by the version 3. The interface between U-Boot and the Linux kernel is accomplished through the Flat Device Tree (FDT) mechanism describing the platform hardware resources.

The U-Boot software is widely used by the industry as the bootloader utility for most embedded processor architecture including the PowerPC. U-Boot includes an extensive set of utilities supporting a large range of hardware drivers including network interface, SATA drive management, PCI and PCI Express bus, NOR and NAND Flash control, Thermal sensor, I2C bus handling, etc.

A Linux Development Suite is available for developer and offers packaged solution to design embedded applications. It reduces development cycles and improves product quality by using ACTIS Linux BSP as the common base for the host and target platforms. Key features of Linux Development Suite include: Eclipse IDE with dedicated plug-ins Cross-compiler and utilities tool chain for Linux kernel source codes.
