6U CPU board with PowerQUICC II MPC8270@450 MHz, SDRAM 128 MB, FLASH 16MB

The VSBC-6872 is a sophisticated and flexible telecom product from the ACTIS Computer PowerQUICC II product line.

This computer board is based on the MPC8270 from MOTOROLA (PowerQUICC II). This processor is rated up to 855 MIPS @ 450 MHz and includes a very efficient SDRAM controller. One of the key feature of this device is to include a Quad Integrated Communications Controller (QUICC). This QUICC is implemented on several products in the Motorola embedded processor family. It provides an dedicated module containing RISC CPU and DMA channels for handling very efficiently a wide range of communications protocols.

The VSBC-6872 includes 16 MByte of 32-bit Flash. This Flash memory supports a dual bank configuration.
This board is supplied with 128MByte of SDRAM. To maximize the performance, this memory is directly connected to the processor 64-bit data bus.
A dual-port, VME shared, 1 MByte SRAM for intelligent peripheral board application.

Three Fast Ethernet 100Base-TX/10Base-T are supplied with auto-negociation support.

The VSBC-6872 supports four independant Serial Communication Controllers with multiprotocol support of RS-232 or RS-422/RS-485/V.35 standards. All ports can receive or transmit serial clock for synchronous operations.

For total flexibility , the VSBC-6872 is supplied with one 32-bit PMC slots, supporting nearly hundreds of VITA-4 compatible modules currently available on the market. These modules allow the user board customization for specific applications. In many cases, he will avoids the needs of expensive VME boards.

Software development can be easily done through the JTAG port with cross development tools. In addition several BSP are available or will be introduced for most popular Real Time OS (Linux, OS-9, OSE, pSOS, VxWorks).
